Description
The Build, Code, Compete workshop is a five-hour, hands-on learning experience designed to spark curiosity and develop STEM skills in young people aged 8–16. Free and open to the public.
The face-to-face mentor-led workshop integrates Scratch, the LEGO® SPIKE™ App, and MicroPython to offer both beginner-friendly block coding and advanced text-based programming.
The major attractions/ highlights of the events are:
• Hands-on robotics: Build functional robots using motors, sensors, and programmable hubs.
• Two skill tracks: Beginners start with Scratch and block coding; advanced learners explore MicroPython.
• Real-world relevance: Projects are inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging participants to apply technology to pressing global issues like clean water, waste management, and climate action.
• Presentation skills: Participants showcase their projects, explaining their design choices and demonstrating their robots in action.
